This is a demonstration of the second part of the FPS Test made by Kurochi

    New Features:

-Bullet being shown in the bullet cam
    -Ricochet and penetration
    -Player Physics
    -2 Walls Added
-3D Square For Testing Player Physics
    -New Target
    -One staircase added

    Also Kurochi I heard you're Italian, that's awesome, I'm A Swedish-Norwegian-Italian.

I also know Italian and currently am learning it.

Spero che il nostro viaggio sara grande con questo FPS!

Downloading now. What is to be expected of this game? Is there any point to it/Will there ever be a point to it?

Right now you're just observing as an FPS is developed.
In the future it'll be turned into a shooting range, which will be the demo for the game that is going to come out of this.

The game is going to be stealth, as hinted by the silencer.

The gun mechanics are going to be nearly the same observed in Receiver by Wolfire Games.

I'm probably going to try and use the demo for a fundraiser to be able to expand the creative part of the team (modelers, sound effects engineers, composers, designers), and purchase Unity Pro.

I don't know if I can whip up some BAAAASIC AI and BAAAASIC pathfinding, (would be the first time I do them, but I'm confident I can manage to do it,) for a demo involving actual stealth features.

The current workflow to this is:

Bullet Physics -- Currently Working on
    Basic Controls Settings
    Gun Mechanics
    Shooting Range Area

    Also, Mage.
Technically this would be an open alpha, not a beta.

P.S.: If you are actually wondering why the bullet can go through the gaps between cans, this is the reason:

The bullet model, the one you see through the camera, is actually just graphical. The bullet physics are merely simulated, and you could say the bullet is a line with 0 thickness, going from the previous position of the bullet to the new position. Therefore, it can go through the smallest gap without hitting anything.

This is being worked on, but at the moment I am not entirely sure how would I fix this without screwing it all up, considering bullet physics are very hard to get right in a physics engine that was never meant to have objects moving so fast.

It doesn't exactly need to be fixed, unless you want everything pitch perfect, after all, it's not supposed to be the most realistic game ever.

  7. Re: FPS Game Test Environment [Updated 1/12/2013]

I'd totally play the full game, whenever it comes out, (probably months from now, but whatever.). I like the fact that it /does/ have bullet drop, ability to check magazine, slide-action, and realistic ricochet for the most part. Or that the bullet doesn't go EXACTLY where you want it to go because your sights are aligned there. (velocity and shizz I assume.)

All in all, I just like the realism of the weapon. But I've one question.

Implying this does come out to be a stealth-based FPS game, will it be more than realistic? As in- The player can't take about thirty bullets and live. Almost like Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. Where the player can take maybe three to four rounds before dying depending on the weapon they're being shot with, and at what distance.

Yeah it will be a lot more realistic, about the damage and such wait for Kurochi to respond to that.

Re: FPS Game Test Environment [Updated 1/12/2013]

I'm planning to have realistic damage for both enemies and players, and I will take into account the fight-or-flight response of the human body.

AKA: One shot in the chest can kill you.
But rather than having it instantly do a game over, I'm probably going to make you slowly (30 seconds?) die. Even though you actually are doomed.

Enemies should have the same reactions, and I have some easter eggs planned about this.
The most immature players will find out about them instantly.

Keep in mind that if the kickstarter (or any fundraiser) won't be successful, this is going to be merely a shooting range game.

If by the time the kickstarter happens you still think this deserves to come out, I'm not asking you to take part by donating, but I'd appreciate it if you could spread it around.

Dude, I wouldn't mind at all. I mean, if I wasn't broke as fuck, I'd /totally/ get it implying it /does/ become a game with a story/meaning behind it. But even still, I've no problem spreading it around.

I'm not sure about the story.
I have no idea what kind of story would I give it, but it can be worked on and I'll happily do so if I have the chance to make it become a thing.

For now, I'll leave you with some updates on the bullet physics:

Once I successfully complete this, it's gun mechanics time.
But maybe I might try to work on a better prediction system which also takes into account the movement of objects.

That should allow for bullet cameras to be triggered when the game knows you're gonna hit.

Re: FPS Game Test Environment [Updated 1/12/2013]

You know, I think the game would fit well with stealth-missions, noticing the bullet camera, you can see how your bullet hit the hostile. Then with the player physics, being able to move objects, you can be able to move things for openings to get out of sticky situations. Not exactly the story, but it's an essential to the story. You could make it about a man who had his family murdered while he was in Afghanistan in the military, but then came home and tried tracking whoever killed them, and through out the game, once again, stealth missions. :D

I think that's a bit ambitious for a one man job..

It happened in Splinter Cell, except I think his daughter was taken, but still, maybe instead of military he was a navy seal, which get training similar to Spec Ops.

No I mean Kurochi can only do so much..

Well if their was a mapper maybe to be hired, ( suggesting he doesn't know how to map ) it would be pretty successful, and I would definitely buy it.

The story you suggested is a bit cheesy.
And I never said it's a one man job.
Only the coding is a one man job, for the rest I have modelers and designers.
I myself can do a bit of everything I need, but not to the point I can do this all by myself.

  18. Re: FPS Game Test Environment [Updated 1/12/2013]

    Not a mapper, a modeler.

"Real games" work differently than Source games. Brushes are rarely if never used. Almost all of those buildings you see in today's games are individual models, not built out of brushes

And sorry Kurochi, I assumed you were doing this by yourself

In which case kurochi, I think you should give SOME credit to the people helping you.
