    I have recently got into speedrunning scource games, Such as Half Life 2, Portal, and other games.
    I mainly started with HL2.. But only yesterday did I start to learn how to speedrun HL2..

    Has anyone got any tips/Like to share any speedrunning videos someone else or themselfs have created?

    (Also btw heres the current WR for hl2 a speedrun)

    I can speedrun the coast decently, but that's about it. ABH is so abusable you can finish the coast in mere minutes.

    Backwards hopping is the best thing ever, its very easy to do and you can do it in garrysmod aswell lol.

    If you dont know how to do it, run forward and jump and while in mid air spin round so you are facing backwards to your direction and keep jumping (use mousewheel to jump)

    currently speedrunning hotline miami, near breaking the record. trying to do it all full S ranked, but i managed to get B- on one level because i got fucked by a spinning dog

    Jesus fucking Christ -- How do people even go about learning this in the first place? I mean, to be honest, that's insane. I've watched a few of these, and I just sit here blown away. I could never do this type'a stuff, even if my life depended on it.

    AFAIK this isn't a proper speedrun, it's just a bunch of runs sown together that sometimes aren't even possible (See window-jump entering Unforeseen Consequences). I don't think it should count.

    I recall something about this too, but it was countered by the load times in between chapters, so the creators would cut in between the loading screen, making the actual gameplay faster and more accurate. Realistically, I doubt it would be 20 minutes WITH the loading times.

    A matter of perception, I suppose.

    Sorry to bump an old thread but Abh doesnt actually need the spin.
    Its possible to do it with any back force.
    The things I have used to succesfully start a Abh are:
    An antlion hitting me
    A grenade


    ....
    But I still can't do that goddam gravity gun trick.

    I can do most of hl2 speedrunning tricks, even though I need to spend good amount of time just practicing and remembering how to do stuff before running.
    My personal best is 1 hour and 56 minutes, could be sub 1:50 if I did not screw up that much.
