I am sorry to say but the concepts have been switched. It was a good run and a great learning experience for what people like and don't like in this type of setting. Thanks for participating if you ever played.

    WHAT IS OUTLAST?

Outlast is a survival horror series based around one main idea:
    Don't fight, run.
In the first game of the series (which this is mainly based off of), the setting is in Mount Massive Asylum. In the facility, it is believed that the company in charge, Murkoff Corporation, is performing illegal experiments on the patients. On the tip of a whistleblower, journalist and main protagonist Miles Upshur goes to investigate for himself. However, unknown to him, the patients (or Variants) had broken out hours before his arrival, along with the Walrider, a sort of sentient superweapon which formed the basis of all the testing in the facility.
This roleplay takes place following the breakout.

    WHAT IS OUTLAST RP?

Outlast Roleplay is a take on the Outlast lore done in a serious multiplayer environment. By default, all players start off as one of the Variants in the asylum. With this provided, you can have almost anything you can imagine as far as mental illnesses. You can an insane murderer who only seeks blood or you can be a more sane Variant who instead tries to evade the violence. It is all up to you.

How much does it really stick to the lore? Well, there have been many changes to the overall environment of the roleplay. For example, female characters are allowed despite the fact that they are forbidden in Mount Massive because of their fatal reaction to testing. There is also elaborations on the horror aspect, such as the existence of various horrific creatures beyond the average Variant. Traditionally, in Outlast, there was only one major 'brute' enemy and that was Chris Walker.

    THE VARIANTS
The Variants are the main group in the Outlast lore that you encounter, despite Murkoff being the ultimate entity behind everything. They are patients, mainly men, who have been put into the Asylum anywhere from 2009 to the setting year, 2013. During this period, they have been subjected to cruel testing which has physically and mentally deformed them even further. Many of these patients were put in the Asylum for very minor mental issues. Some young patients were even sold to the Murkoff Corporation. Others are in the Asylum for good reason. Regardless, the effects left on them from testing is far from beneficial.

Now, they have managed to escape from their confinement and roam the Asylum. Some are out for blood against Murkoff, some are just generally out for blood and some remain sane in the bloodbath that has been created by the breakout. Despite the breakout, however, the Variants remain trapped inside the Asylum one way or another. They must survive no matter the costs.

    MURKOFF TACTICAL DIVISION
The Murkoff Tactical Division is a large, somewhat elite group of private military contractors (PMC's) which have been hired by the Murkoff Corporation to protect the assets of the company. In this case, they have been called to contain the situation at Mount Massive without the involvement of the United States Government. How do they achieve this? By leaving no trace of what happened.

The biggest threat to the M.T.D. is ironically Murkoff's greatest creation, the Walrider. Because of its ability to remain unseen and its hosts unwavering anger towards Murkoff, it has been responsible for slaughtering a large portion of the PMC's. They also face the danger of the Variants, who are often no different than the Walrider in seeking Murkoff blood.

    MURKOFF STAFF
Perhaps the most despised in all of Murkoff is the staff team at Mount Massive. They are responsible for creating, administering and overseeing the cruel testing of the Morphegenic Engine program. They are also responsible for creating many of the abominations seen by both the Variants and Murkoff alike. However, they stand out considerably from everyone else in the Asylum and are a major target for the bloodthirsty.
The staff team itself is made up of three major groups: the doctors, the scientists and the security.
Doctors: They are responsible for the cruel treatment of the patients in the periods between testing and confinement.

Scientists: They are responsible for the cruel treatment of the patients during testing in the laboratory sector.
Security: They were responsible for containing the patients at Mount Massive, however they obviously failed at doing so. Before the breakout, they often physically abused the patients to force them into testing.

Death is not uncommon now following the breakout. Often, death is the greatest fear to everyone who inhabits the Asylum. The only way to avoid death is by running, hiding, or fighting, although the latter will always end in blood one way or another.

How is death handled on our Outlast RP? Permanent kills are standard for all Variants and Staff. Why is this? Because it only makes sense in a horror environment like this. Valuing your characters life should be key.

sparkz is a pretty chill owner, server's rather unique and had little problems so far other than certain staff members and whitelist holders being really memey, but afaik they've mostly been dealt with now
