[Steam Group Advertisements] This has got to stop.

For ages, people have been doing this and it's got to stop, it's ridiculous, people don't appreciate it, it's annoying the absolute F*** out of everyone and it's disgusting and has made myself and many others, absolutely despise said people and their community, and it shows a real lack of any quality, a severe and dire desperation, and it really shows the lengths that people go to out of that desperation to make themselves known and to spam other communities pages with their own advertisements.

How is this acceptable on any standard?

It's disgusting and it feels like it needs to be talked about because people don't seem to get that it's not the right thing to do.
This is not a hate thread, this is a discussion about this sort of conduct and actions, and the fatal outcome it can have on peoples views of an owner and ultimately the failure of their server and communities because of the owners immaturity and desire to spread this crap to peoples pages where it's not welcome.

It's exactly the same as going to a server to spam your link to your site, something i'm sure people that do this, likely also do.

This needs to be one of the standard rules on a list of "Don't freaking do this because it makes you a Piece of s*** owner."

Let's discuss this.

Seriously, stop. This is not cool.

You advertize EVERYWHERE and shove Novabox down everyone's throat. It's really unacceptable how you advertize on other people's communities.
How would you like me to shove my community down your throat every few minutes? I understand you have lots of passion and hope for your community, and I hope it turns out well, but being a dick and unnecessarily advertizing everywhere is not the way to go.

Sure what Kermerd is doing is dumb but all it does is make him look bad, and like @RJ said it's the responsibility of the page owner to take the comments down

 

By having Steam moderators do something about it. Obviously this is some big and is not some random thing you can just do as I'm sure it would take a fuck ton of man power to do it, but still essentially they are also advertising on Steam's property without their permission. However I don't they would do anything, but bigger groups that get these types of advertisements should also have moderators and admins in the group to deal with it as well.

I don't really see why someone would care about posting an advertisement to a long dead community. Sure, some might frown down upon it, but in all honesty, it doesn't really matter. I don't really see the thread as "stopping steam group advertisements" as a thread to actually "stop steam group advertisements", but more as an attempt to focus on one particular case: Me.

Steam groups allow comments to anyone that joins. The permission is already there to post whatever the hell you want, whether it be propoganda about the nazis or a recommendation to join a different community. If you believe this to be wrong, then change your permissions.

I think Fixxer's point here is, well, he's just trying to explain the general nerve and stupidity of it all, not directly addressing you Kerm.
It's just that anyone who does this kind of shit and tries to act like they were "professional" or "found success" is obviously mistaken.
