  1. @CrazyBoo31 made a recent now locked thread that made me think of what we should do for poorly ran servers. We should introduce a Better Businesses Bureau for servers. It might be nice to have some sort of catogorization for the fact there are a ton of servers. Picking ones out by name is tough. So I believe we should use this as some sort of official way to try and make really bad communities want to be good. If they have a rating as bad from mulitple designated C16 users it would warrant us not to waste our time with that server. In fact having a good rating would be a selling point for underrated servers. I think this is beneficial for all rather then being critiques that never say anything good. Thanks FPSPrussia. Just an FYI in order to do this it'd have to be more of a community player effort to collect all this as I lack belief to see a very official tagging with this idea.

So, branding a server based on the opinion of other users? I don't think I'm following.

  3. Well. I am typing this on a phone. Basically just organize what we are rating servers. Maybe make a huge page and plop each rating next to it. From what I've seen we are very unorganized with just using a 1-10 system. Let me give you an example
Forum post title: 'Community name' A+ Rating 'Snippit of what makes it good: Good Rp / Good Staff'
Then the post would have some sort of format to make it easy to see pros and cons and finally have just an overall statement from the author of the post.

I've had a similar idea in that there's a website where people can add a community with the basic information (website, IP, etc.) and then users can submit ratings or reviews.

I guess that isn't too bad. I see bad things coming from it, though.

If you want to review a community or see the reviews for one, you can go to the community's thread and do it.

You don't have to limit the thing only to Clockwork communities.

Get some people to review other gamemodes, have different categories for them. Become popular. Receive money to artificially inflate server ratings

I like the idea, just don't associate it with the Cloud Sixteen in case you want to stick with the Clockwork as some of the users here will murder your project before it launches.

  8. Well the reason I think it would work great with just Clockwork Communities is the same reason the alleged 'Group Grievers' has. No matter what. It is clearly obvious that the gamemode still holds popular. It is the fact that everyone wants to be their own boss that makes most of the 0/20 players happen.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do too many gamemodes and you kind of ruin the aspects you are grading for, unless you're really able to get a large enough team to cover a lot of gamemodes with a lot of hours for free.

Already been working on something like this when I've had the time and motivation to -- I've put the project on hold for other things, though. It's a nice idea, but I'd more prefer to apply it to the entire Garry's Mod Community rather than just Clockwork.

  10. I know with the kind of strengths you could add you can make a lot more 'Shock and Awe' and probably fulfill a goal like the entire G-Mod Community. Good luck to you. I hope you actually do that as I can see a really beneficial system for players who don't want to play dice with servers. You have to download a bloody Gigabyte of FastDL for most modern servers. Great Hopes to your project.

I don't think I'll ever finish it, it was more of a project to learn C# for work.

  12. Maybe you should.

  13. The Clockwork community is toxic and will abuse anything if it means talking shit about others.

  14. Cough Cough CrazyBoo's thread was toxic and abuse of using an old system. Sure it was moderated and eventually taken down. But people have turned to Group Griefers for some odd reason. I honestly have no clue but it is working. People drop servers like crazy when it has been ransacked by these people.

So should we sit and just allow purposeful bad reviews from these 'Group Griefers' or should we actually start doing something different?

  15. Taste is subjective. It's why some people enjoy communties such as SCG and others flat out hate it.

a lot of people hate scg due to bad experiences with it
    js

this basically gives a small group of people the ability to dictate an official list of "good" and "bad" servers based off of their opinion
unofficial review sources are fine because they're unofficial
    this isnt

  17. I have had some bad experiences with SCG, but I've enjoyed the majority of my time there - it was actually the first HL2RP community I properly joined - and that is simply because of the people there.

  18. Don't forget how critical people are. Communities all getting shit reviews because they don't like a person from a community or from hearsay.
