HL2RP Suggestion for HL2RP servers. Economy

This is an idea for servers to set up a basic autonomous economy that requires little to no admin intervention once they get the ball rolling. I apologies for grammar and spelling. They are not my strong suit despite being a lover of roleplay.

This idea is based on some core principles.

Everyone has the want to eat and drink.
A hunger and thirst system needs to be implemented as annoying as it is. The rate hunger and thirst falls and the rate that it kills you is up to you. If such settings are possible. That or you must rely that people will roleplay their needs. In my experience they rarely do.

The Most Basic Ration is the standard price for all things
Nothing should be cheaper than the amount of tokens inside a basic ration.

Not a single item must be spawned in for any reason. CP's get standard equipment, pistol, stunstick, radio, ammo, etc. But if they want more they must save up and also acquire the training. If an item exists in somebodies inventory it must have a source that can be tracked. IC weapons should not be allowed as it is impossible to track or control without some effort.

An established and competent black market dealer. He has flags to buy weapons. He must have a place where he stocks his supply. He may be given tokens to invest in his stock. It must be raid able and discover able by anyone.

Just the same as black market dealers the same for shop owners. They must have a place where they have their stock and can be given an investment to get their shop running. They may adjust their prices so that they can meet the demand.

Buying from a business menu must be done as if you are restocking your supply. I suggest once a week shop owners and dealers may use their newly acquired funds to re-stock their inventories.

Weapons and ammo purchased from the black market should be expensive. You are avoiding the risk of raising attention from the CP's to get a weapon from under their noses. So you should have to pay great deals for a weapon.

Ration, food, and token supply should be raidable. Either a warehouse, train, or mugging the ration station directly.

There must be a threat to lose everything. If you die through valid RP. Ie Execution, starvation, gunfight, hanging, murder, etc. Then it should be a PK. Nobody likes losing their character but the moment you put them into a dangerous position you should have the threat to lose it all. Yes this does include units. Though due to the replaceable nature of Combine units. CP chars may have the same rank as the last but they must get a new number thus a new person under the helmet.

You must have a S2K system. Ammo should be used with the intent to hit someone. If a random lolwebel wants to shoot cop and run away then fine. So long as the path to getting a weapon to use is completely valid then I dont see a need to question the character itself. I'd rather be killed and PK'ed knowing that the weapon that was used came from somewhere with great effort than to be killed by some character who was spawned in a gun.

The economy can work without any need for admins to do anything if it goes like this.
You will however have to think about the pricing of every item that can be purchased and sold.

Tokens will enter the citizens pockets through rations. Rations can be rewarded during work cycles
Tokens will enter CP's pockets through salary or performance rewards
Citizens can buy better food and drink with tokens or save up for more quality of life items.
If a citizen is feeling ambitious and daring he can seek out a Weapons dealer and buy himself a weapon and some ammo where he can mug cp units for more tokens or the weapon the cp has itself. Which can create a snowball effect.
If the citizens are being good. Better rations are given thus more money in the system. If they are being bad. Worse rations if none at all. This provokes the rebel groups to be careful about their moves as it effects the whole city.

If all things go well then every single item can have a source and the money that went into said item has a source.
This depends on admins that are competent and will obey the core principles. If so then every weapon that comes into the server will be legit.
Admins can divert more time to making sure everyone is roleplaying properly and thinking up events

Variables that can effect this system

Administrators. A single admin can ruin the system by spawning in weapons for themselves, events, or other players. I suggest giving admin to people who are loyal and have been apart of the community for some time.

Metagaming. Players may find out the location of the BMD's hideout oocly and report it as IC and shut down the operation. However there are many ways to quell metagaming. Such as the moment you think you small metagame look into it.

The frequency of ration and work cycles. As this is the legal source of all free money and food. You can directly control the games economy by controlling the frequency. I suggest you make work cycles and ration cycles consistently timed. One before peak hours, one during peak hours, and one after peak hours. Work cycles can be thrown in randomly and as much as you please. Busy hands cant buy guns

How much the CP salary is. It should be much easier for a CP to get a weapon then a citizen. But the price of a weapon from a CP should be the same price as it is sold on the black market or more.

I am willing to talk about this more. So feel free to critisize and comment on this. I'd like to know what you all think about it.
Just consider that I dont think im the only person to think of this. Im sure many have tried. Im just suggesting the way I'd go at hl2rp economy.

I'll have to properly read through this tomorrow for sure, seems interesting at a glance though.

You're right. Alot of effort has been put into what I'v explained and its already in the core systems of clockwork. Its what its supposed to be but do you see anyone ever really respect or use the systems this way? If they do they are not consistent about it. Sure citizens have to abide by it but once you become a rebel or a CP everything is handed to you so it takes away from the experience. Im not saying all servers are like that but most of the time they are.

Player run businesses with a set rent system on each location seems to work best from personal experience. Then have the CWU simply oversee each location and make sure shipments are provided but kept IC on deliveries. Additionally, have the CWU keep track of inactivity of shop owners. If they're offline for more than a week, they forfeit the business rights and the shop is again on the market for purchase.

Again, just a suggestion. There's no set way to execute an economy.

You're right. No economy is perfect. We can tell by IRL but all economies are still founded on basic things. My suggestion is really to provide some sort of foundation to servers wanting to start up an economy. I feel my idea is a decent one. Its mostly founded on what makes an economy work. Not what makes one work well but the foundations of an economy are based on the fact that nothing just appears for no reason.

rations no longer give tokens, citizens must work for tokens, just think about how amazing that would be, rebels paying tokens to citizens to smuggle them food so they can survive, actual bribing, realistic pricing on black market items, there's just so much potential that is wasted without an actual economy
