SUPER HIGH SPEED INTERNET FROM MEDIACOM

so for the past like 6 months my internet has been shit

randomly it'll just cut out and i have to wait like 24 hours or so for it to start working again even if i keep restarting it

i've changed routers like 5 times and the problem constantly persists

today i put my phone RIGHT NEXT to the router, literally touching it, and was getting 4 bars. my pc 2 rooms away was not getting any connection whatsoever. i used a cat 5 cable to connect my pc and its working perfectly, so the problem i was having (at least with this router, im assuming the others as well) is that the connection will, at random times, not reach past like 5 feet.

i just thought i'd tell you guys because why tf not i've been playing just cause 2 for the past 5 hours waiting for it to work again and just figured this out so now i can internet again

There's multiple solutions to this

1. There might be another wifi signal in your house either on the same channel, or some form of block between the walls. Certain metals cancel out the wireless signal.
2. You might be getting cheap routers that don't allow the fullest ability of your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
3. You might be throttled or your ISP is not giving you what you or your family is paying for (If you have 3-5 Megabits NOT Megabytes per second, then you have shiternet and should upgrade. Most people nowadays have 15 minimum, I personally have 50/50 up and down.
4. Putting your phone right next to the Router doesn't make it any faster. You need a faster Router or upgraded internet.

people often fail to notice that internet clocking programs often display mb/s megabits not bytes
as such its about 1.5 megabytes per second

 

that's still way better in comparison to 500 kb/s

 

do you live in an apartment complex

 

1a. even with a clear connection to the router it kills itself like 3-5 feet away
