Syntax and theme for Notepad++

Discussion in 'Programming' started by SomeSortOfDuck, Jul 30, 2013.

  1. I'm trying to switch over from Sublime to Notepad++ but thesyntax is killing me. I use the Monokai theme on Sublime (along with Lua syntax) but on Notepad++ it just looks awful. The Lua syntax doesn't go well with Monokai at all.

    Any suggestions on some good Lua syntax?

    I've always used Notepad++ and it works for me.

  4. I've used that, but lately I've been doing some HTML work, which is the main reason I want to try to use Notepad++. Does Sublime have the ability to run HTML in a browser like Notepad++ does?

  7. That thing isn't working at all.

    Gives me an error saying there's no packages to be installed.

    EDIT: I just discovered snippets in Sublime, and oh my god these are amazing. Forget Notepad++.

    The only thing I like about Notepad++ is the fast loading time (for me) and the ability to right click on anything and open it. Sublime Text 2/3 itself is beyond better and incredibly recommended.

    Get the package control addon/expansion and you'll love it even more for the simplicity of installing new packages/addons.

    Best ones out there are JetBrains IDE's. Gotta pay for them unless your a student ;)

    Still on Notepad++ :p

    Although I also use IDEs for things like Java and Android (e.g. Eclipse, NetBeans, Android Studio, etc.).

    For IDE's or text editors: Visual Studio, Atom.io and Brackets master race.
    For themes: Material (Sublime), Monokai/DarkSoda, and One master race, or any kind of 80's theme.
