we have armed police patrolling the streets in my city, carrying PDW's

the reserves on the base i do my course at have not been deployed, however have stepped up security measures drastically. we aren't allowed a code to enter anymore, instead our tutors have to let us in. we also have to move around the base, enter and leave in a group, and we even have to be escorted to ASDA (walmart) for lunch, instead of us being able to have free reign.

we are strictly disallowed to have any kind of camouflage, whether DPM or MTP, and that includes the burgens most of us wore in there. we also cannot take home our rig/boots to iron/wash/polish, and we'll have less time to actually prepare our kit before parade

and i think the worst part about this all was because of something that happened literally an hour away from me. manchester is part of the central triangle (sheffield, liverpool and manchester), and i've even been to manchester a couple of times (to a small games con, nothing special, but trafford centre is really nice). it just feels scary right now, especially considering the fact that i'm considered kind of a big target.

what do you guys feel about this? i mean, it's pretty personal to us since it happened right next to us, but looking in, what do you feel about the attack and how may has handled it?

It seems like the people of Manchester did what should've been done, which is just help and not pay mind to the attackers - Making their whole crusade pretty much null.

As for May, I havent been paying attention to what she's been saying, but uh... This is pretty fucked.

 

it is. believe it or not, this is the biggest bomb that's ever gone off in the UK - the IRA didn't even come close to detonating somthing like that, especially against that kind of group.

i mean yea, these kinds of acts are horrifying and awful, but buckling and saying that everything's goin to shit is exactly what these bomb freaks want you to do. the point of terrorism is to cause terror.

in my circumstances about me being a target and the fact the latest one was just a town over is going to kind of shake me up, it's shook us all up. i'm not saying the world's ending, but i'm saying that shit like this not only affects the way i go through my day, but it also affects safety regulations for/around me and my peers, and it also shows that they're targeting up north, which is away from the arguably 'high risk' areas.

it isn't a 'grow up pussy' kind of deal because a) we get bombed for no reason and b) we don't have shit like school shootings carried out basically every week
