The Unofficial HL2RP Roleplay Guide

Hello, everyone from all around. Today I am going to teach new players -- and seasoned -- some things about the Roleplay framework, Clockwork.

There is a few things that I need to say before I go into this guide full force: everything I say is to be taken with a grain of salt, and nothing is always going to be the correct way to go about how you roleplay. All of these things are either stuff that most experienced roleplayers will follow, and ways to improve your general behavior and mindset when roleplaying.

Now, let's get started, shall we?

    The Basics:

    General Commands

// - Used to talk globally to the entire server. This is what people also refer to as OOC (Out-of-character) chat.
.// or [[ - Used to talk OOC'ly to a local range of players. This is what people refer to as LOOC (Local-out-of-character) chat.
/it - Used for explaining a third person event around your character. For example: /it the vase falls to the ground infront of John.
/me - Used for explaining an action that your character is doing. For example: /me opens the door.
/y - Used to talk in a larger radius. Used to amplify your character voice/emotion. For example: /y THE COMBINE
/w - Used to talk in a very small radius.
? - Used for masking your characters real self. For example: /y ? "I like chicken nuggets!" This command can be abused, and you will be punished for doing so.
/pm (users name) - Used to contact players privately. Should be the go-to way of contacting admins, to avoid hindering other player's immersion. For example: /pm (users name) There is someone breaking the rules, help!
/charfallover - Used to ragdoll your character. This can be abused to glitch through doors or to annoy players, and you will be punished for doing so.

    Controls

The basic controls are as follows,

    - The default WASD to move.
    - SPACE to jump.
    - R to reload any weapon.
    - Holding R will raise your weapon/fists. Do not abuse fists, as it you will be punished for doing so.
    - Shift and Alt to run/jog.
    - TAB to open the menu.
    - Y to open the chat menu.

    WORK IN PROGRESS

I approve. It would be pretty cool if you could build up a database full of custom commands from some edited schema's.

  3. Re: Unofficial Roleplay Guide

It looks very good, maybe you can say something about character backstory (and relating it to the server/schema's canon)?

    Re: Unofficial Roleplay Guide

You can also use [[ for LOOC aswell, something I adopted from the start.

    Who uses .// for LOOC?

  7. Re: Unofficial Roleplay Guide

I first started with [[, but as in my keyboard I have to hold SHIFT so it works, I switched to .//

Also, my fingers have to move in an uncomfortable angle to type [[

I sadly prefer .// even if it is slightly more inefficient I have grown accustom to it!
