    The W A R G E
    Overview
Server name: The WARGE Serious Fallout Roleplay
Server IP: 63.251.20.23:27015 Status: On Guild Wars 2

    Map: rp_salvation_2_stalker Forums: www.warge.enjin.com
    Steam Group: www.steamcommunity.com/groups/wargerp
    What we are:
Our main goal for The WARGE is to create a proper roleplay environment in the sense of removing common RPG elements from our server. That means we do not use an attribute system and people do not need to go out of their ways to gain scripted items. Most items can be acquired when asking an admin. These include common weapons and money within reason. This way we seek to make people focus more on their RP than on hunting scripts. SWEP damage is disabled on the server and S2K is not used. Most shooting and other combat has to be completely /me'd. (The whole ruleset can be viewed from the "Rules" tab of our forums.) With this as base idea that will be present for everyone playing, people will be able to set realism as their main goal in RP and actually apply and develop their characters' personalities and relationships without harmful limitations that most other servers put unto their users. Bigger roles and the means to create social RP will thus be very accessible for anyone able and willing.
The WARGE is the direct successor of Wayside Alabaster, a Fallout RP server that was very popular and successful until about three years ago. The base administration team consists of the same people, now with a lot more experience to provide an excellent offer for the server.

    The game world:
"After heavy losses on both sides, it was Colonel Tsu (now General Tsu) who ordered the New California Republic to retreat from the second battle of the Hoover Dam. Caesar's Legion advanced through Nevada and continued to fight the NCR for months. Unfortunately for Caesar, he did not live on to witness this. An undetected brain tumor killed him. It is Caesar Lanius who now continues to exacerbate the situation for the Republic."

The year is 2283 and we are in southern Oregon. The main RP hub is a motel that turned into a small town called Well's Way. Well's Way was founded many years ago by James Well, the first mayor of the town. It is simply an abandoned motel but its proximity to trade routes and its central position have allowed the town to flourish into a small, independent town free of rule by factions. However, due to the presence of the local NCR garrison, the town is feeling under pressure to accept annexation. Many believe that the current mayor, Albert Catron, is in cahoots with the NCR and is about to finalize a deal for NCR annexation.

It has a small police force lead by a sheriff that defends it from the hostilities of the wastes. There is also a bar which many of the townsfolk and traders from the road socialize.

The New California Republic has been in dire straits over the past few months. After the Mojave fell to the Legion, the NCR entrenched themselves along the Californian border and introduced mandatory conscription for all able bodied men. The NCR has the largest presence of any of the New Vegas factions on this server and controls an abandoned airbase with a reasonable sized garrison of soldiers. However, the garrison is poorly equipped due to their situation in the south.
Morale is also low among many of the conscripts although there are some who are proud to defend the NCR against the onslaught of Lanius.
Caesar's Legion, riding high after their triumph in Nevada, are focusing on their Californian campaign. In this server, Oregon, for the Legion, is an afterthought and as such, the Legion has little presence here.
The Brotherhood of Steel does not have a formal chapter on this server. Their presence is confined to a small outpost with military personel and a few scribes.

    Other factions:
The Crimson Caravan will be the main trading role. The Legion does occasionally send traders to the town as well. Additionally, every user is free to create an independent trader character. Applications for the Crimson Caravan are done purely by roleplay.
The Wildlife faction and the Robots faction allow players to play non-human characters. Once the whitelist is given, users are free to create as many characters as they want with the selection of models we provide.
Ghoul and super mutant characters require an application as well, however there is no whitelisted faction for this and an approved application only provides one model change.
All players can apply for a custom faction which will be their own whitelisted faction with any authorized function they want.

    Conclusion:
We can offer a roleplay experience that is unique and fresh but still more serious and realistic than ever. With players being encouraged and enabled to use their full creative potential in RP and discouraged to focus on scripted OOC benefits, this setting will provide a proper RP environment for proper RPers to make proper RP happen. With a considerable part of the original community joining, there is a guaranteed playerbase for these dynamics to form without inhibiting new users to settle in.

It seems like it could be fun but the s2rp turns me off of it. In my experience s2rp always brakes out into heavy arguments.

Also might want to use literally anything besides enjin.

Seems like a good server though.

We use enjin because it completely fulfills our needs and we are familiar with it. Also because we're on a budget and our main focus will be the server anyway.

  4. I don't get all the fuss about enjin and other free forums.

It's like everyone is expecting see XenForo or something. It's just a forum and it fulfils it's purpose of being a way to transmit information to one another easier.

The quality of my server should be what appeals to people, not necessarily the forums. If people are willing to miss out on a potentially great RP experience because of the website look, that's not a big loss for us.
Besides, the layout for the forums I linked is absolutely usable and not even necessarily unappealing.

  7. forums are fine. looks good, good luck

  8. So how do you plan on making s2rp different than it already is?
    (P2L, rolls blah)

"3. Any sort of harm that is inflicted in roleplay must be properly /me'd. Every other damage is void. S2K is forbidden. S2M and S2I is only allowed in skirmish situations in which the parties are outside of one another's /me range. If both influencing parties only involve one player, a /me via PM is required."
"10. The roll command is purely for gambling and other similar situations. At some occasions it can be allowed for other actions, given that all parties agree."

These are rules on our servers. Together with base rules like FailRP, that basically means that everything that is realistic works in the /me.
And again, SWEP damage is disabled. So people are actually forced to properly roleplay combat.

  10. Yes I've read through your rules a couple hours ago.
So again you didn't really answer what I was asking, how do these rules make your server different or unique?
People RPing shooting 'realistically' where in reality it's P2L and people don't P2L properly in pretty much all servers except that one cyberpunk with stats /firearms and melee or whatever it was.

So to keep what I'm saying short, you are always going to have people who will shoot with precise aim or people who will just rp being grazed by shots.

How are players suppose to see others names OOC so they can pm by the way if they are out of range?

Can you elaborate on this please.

  11. Can I just say that roleplayed combat always causes arguments? You should allow long-range combat that usually causes arguments to be done via a /me initiating S2K, it is much more fun and enjoyed and stops arguments and timescale issues.

  12. They were nice enough to leave out the part about donations in the C16 post., standard stuff donate for flags, whitelists.

But specifically the part where donations only last 60 days and you need to re-subscribe aka repay to keep said benefits.

We will always strive for P2C (Play to Circumstance). If circumstances are in your favour, you should realistically win. It's a somewhat faith based system in truth. We hope that roleplayers will roleplay realistically and if they don't we will correct them. However, with the fear of losing scripts being gone, this shouldn't be as much of an issue as it usually is.
Also, especially in the wasteland, good shooters at /me range would not be too rare. In most cases the shooter can determine where they would hit while people who try to shrug off too much by "being grazed" will be dealt with as well.
However, actual killing would be rare. Realistic personalities, as required by the rules, would not aim to kill in every situation anyway and actual character deaths will therefore be rather rare.

This is in case you OOC'ly give someone information about RP, for instance an item that you give them. You may not lie about its quality etc.

This is to counter comments like "Your character's racist language bothers me, change it." etc.

This can be done via global OOC chat.

Especially across longer distances, instant killing should not really be applied. As said before, S2M and S2I will be usable in those situations. If an injury is done, it will be roleplayed out instantly or with a /me after more possible S2I hits are prevented (by cover or similar). The camera still moves to indicate you were shot, even if you do not take OOC damage.

Characters won't be banned because of a donation running out. To keep up the "subscription" you do not have to donate the same full amount again anyway, as specified on the donation page. And even if you had to, the prices are not high.

  15. Who said anything about characters being banned?

  16. Victoreno

That's really the only bad thing that could happen as a result of the time limited perks.
And you did imply it was something bad.
As I said, re-donating doesn't require the same sum as the first donation, so it is really nothing to complain about.

  17. The only bad thing I implied was the fact you left out parts of your community in your intro post, as a player in my opinion when I see a community post they *should* lay everything out on the table. I think the subscription for your donations is a big thing, I never implied anything bad about re-subbing for donation perks so I'm a but confused why you are trying to cover your ass over it you should really be covering yourself on the fact you didn't have it mentioned anywhere which to be honest isn't that big of a deal.

When has a honor system ever worked in a roleplay, not trying to shit on you I just find it unlikely it will go as intended.

What defines a good shooter, what do good shooters consist of roleplaying skills or IC experience?

I appreciate you take the time to deal with injury RP though.

Bit confused considering in fallout literally raiders will kill you for jack shit and the whole game is basically based around merk or be merked.
I understand the "well not everyone is a killer" but in some degree people do kill either a single person or multiple.
Imagine this rule being forced on NCR v Legion.

Can I lie about in OOC about telling the truth IC?

    Sounds confusing but.
    "The shit is there."
.// yea my guy told you the shit is there no lies.

So if a character does something offensive to someone icly and that person playin the char is offended OOC they can get staff involved?
So do I need to ask admins who this person is so I can target them or do I ask the person I'm trying to clip?
I mean if I hit you with a anti-mat do you think you'll have time to injury rp.
    ?

I kept my post to the most important things, other things (except for the rules) wouldn't or shouldn't heavily influence a player's decision to play on the server anyway. Donations are not a major feature.

Honor is not the only factor. Extreme situations would be regulated by admins anyway, but the rest of that post explains more of it.

By that I meant IC abilities.

The server is set in the Fallout universe, but realism is still the most important rule. The average raider's personality as seen in the games will not be a common thing on the server. Outside of drug influence, characters should behave like people, not like Fallout characters. Fallout gameplay focuses more on combat than RP gameplay does.

As long as you give people all necessary information they need to roleplay properly.

The "characters that need authorization" would rather be overpowered or similar characters. I have seen rules forbidding offending people in RP as well, though, but that is absolutely allowed here.

You can ask the person directly or alternatively OOC'ly walk to him to see the name.

There is a camera shake that triggers when being hit. You might also be able to see blood splatter.

  19. Like I said it wasen't a huge deal just a preference of mine really.
It's mostly honor until someone calls for a admin.
Anyone could really claim they are good shot unless you have apps for fire arms training or whatever.
    No bandits, got ya.
Obviously like people being blood lustful and insane can be detrimental to RP but through IC interactions and development I feel people can gauge a reasonable motive to kill if they have been betrayed, robbed and such. Just my 2 cents. That being said not being a mass murder but a pre-mediated killer, eh.

Seems a bit metaish but I can see where you are coming from, so there are no lol surprises in items and such.

    Alright.

There are ups and downs in this but I suppose it won't defeat the system entirely.
I thought you dont s2k/damage people on this?

That is true and encouraged. Conflict is a part of social RP. If players don't want (potentially harmful) conflict they can still not engage in this.

As long as you can let the player know in time, it is okay. For example you let them run into a trap and tell them about it only after it is inevitable. However, if you gave someone a box IC'ly, then go offline without telling the other player that opening the box triggers an explosion or something, that would be against the rules. It's really more of a rule that we added to have some administrative power against this kind of stuff.

You don't have to be damaged, only hit to trigger the camera effect.
