Other Theta Roleplay // Episodic roleplay based on Resident Evil [IDEA]

  1. Hello everyone!

    I'm really not that good with making an introduction, but I'll try my best:
    I've been running Garry's Mod roleplaying servers for a few years now and I have finally understood that it's not exactly the same anymore.
    Many servers with potential die quickly due lack of interest and the common need of creating events daily that eventually get extremely stale and repetitive, running around in circles.
    I ran several public roleplaying servers (mainly post-apocalypse themed) and the outcome was usually the same, it was too difficult to keep up with the pace of constantly creating events that take hours to set-up correctly, it was way too much hassle for me and the admins to keep it running smoothly. There's also other common issues with running a public server, but this is what affected me personally the most.

    So I read the thread of Pistol P: http://forums.cloudsixteen.com/threads/sd.17013/ and it inspired me greatly to do something with similar approach.
    Most of my friends have quit roleplaying in GMod and roleplaying in general, so I decided to come here to see would there be anyone who'd be interested to be a part of this project.

    The server would be running Clockwork and a schema that I bought a year ago, as I still haven't got a proper chance to use it properly.
    It would be set in a custom setting based on the lore of Resident Evil.
    I am in sort of a hurry now, I'm sorry if the thread came across confusing, I'll be updating the thread shortly as I have more time.

  2. So pretty much a zombie apocalyptic roleplaying gamemode? Which Resident Evil will you be focussing on? The good ones, or the bad ones? (Resident Evil 1-3 being good and everything else after that being bad, though Revelations was pretty good actually; had that actual horror feel to it.)
     
  3. I was thinking of focusing on the older ones, especially Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2
     
  4. Ah yes, Resident Evil: Outbreak; also another one of the better ones. It's surprising how after Resident Evil 3, all the spinoff games were much better than all the newly released ones.

    Do you have an idea for the map you might use? Or how you might handle it?
     
  5. Yeah I agree, the spinoff games were amazing compared to the most of the newer ones, RE4 was good though.
    I'm thinking of different fitting maps, especially Necro maps, but I'm open to any suggestions. :)
    Smaller maps would be better, especially if I will take the approach of implementing puzzles to the server.
     
  6. I think RE4 is about the same as Modern Warfare, it was a great game but it sparked the death of the series to many people.
    Maybe a map that's a built up cramped/torn up city/town area instead? I feel that cramped and horrific areas are more suited to resident evil than larger open areas like spoopy forrests.
