Thinking of starting a Half Life 2 Roleplay server (city8Rp)

Neb is currently the popular server but that is not gonna stop other server to become popular. I would like to start my own hl2rp server and i would like some help to start it up and would like to contribute to make the server good.

Is it even worth making my own hl2rp server?

 

If you can supply it financially then yes. You'd want to get a good host, a nice website, and make sure that you follow a pretty straight forward lore. You eventually want to get it to where donations pay for the community, not you.

Give people a reason to stay. Show them that you're unique or different, and they'll stick around.

tbh where have u seen a server asides neb where u convince the community to give u a tiny bit of that gbp and usd without making it look like its going to u or giving out whitelists and tokens?

 

Maybe to show that they love the server and want it to be alive

 

you're not wrong however i've never seen servers get donations actively or regularly e;g a 5-10$ per month or some sort

 

Mine does. My dedicated server is $49 a month and donations are actively allowing me to pay for it. Although let's not get sidetracked... if you want to talk about donation perks it really depends what whitelists your giving people. You shouldn't be giving people vortigaunt, and combine whitelist, or anything that has power. Maybe stalker, CWU, something like that. Where they can't do damage.

Good luck, but don't make a donation system with reward in-game, it's not a DarkRP.

I have a server, I do this primarily for roleplay, I never ask my community to fund anything.

And, make a different story, not do the basic HL2RP. Innovate.
