Ok so I seen many people trying to set up FastDL so I decided to make a Tutorial,

Ok so first of all download this tool http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=842886 This tool saves alot of time and I use it but its Optional,

Now first of all create a folder and put all your custom content in there, MAKE SURE ITS THE FOLDERS SUCH AS "Models" "Materials" and "Sound" AND NOT THE FILES INSIDE THEM!",

Next put the generator tool I gave you into the folder where you put the custom content in and open it, Click browse and find the folder you created where you put put this tool and custom content in, After that Select the folders you have such as Models and Textures and click generate,

After that open resource.lua and you have to change the "/" as Garry removed it so it should look like this

    BEFORE:
    AFTER:
Do that for every custom content file you generated,

Next open your web hosting and open public_html and create a folder called FastDL "In Filezilla for example" drag every folder from the directory you placed everything what you want in FastDL "Not the tool or resource.lua!" you generated like "Models" "Sound" "Textures" into the FastDL you created on your webhosting,

Now drag resource.lua into "orangebox\garrysmod\lua\autorun\server" if you want to add more things do the same but copy and paste the new resource.lua into the old resource.lua,

Last but not Least goto orangebox\garrysmod\cfg and open server.cfg and copy this code:

put your Web hosting URL there with the folder you made in filezilla or whatever you used for example I created "fastdl" Place it under Sv_lan then load up the server and it should work.

I do apologize if this is rushed so If you have any questions about this I will resolve them.

NOTE THAT MAPS DON'T NEED TO BE PUT IN RESOURCE.LUA BUT DO NEED TO BE COMPRESSED TO BZIP2 a compressor I use can be found here: https://files.monsterprojects.org/bzip2-105-x86-win32.zip

Helpful tutorial, for the somewhat less known with Server hosting.

Get your map and drag it on top of the bzip program, literally just drag and drop right on top if it and it would bring up CMD and compress it, it takes like 5 secs depending on the map size.

  10. You can and should use bzip with everything custom.
