Hello there! If you viewed this thread, you are here for one of three reasons: You are interested in a custom schema, you want to be apart of a team for the creation/modification of a schema, or you just made a heckin misclick. Please don't be here for the latter and immediately click out. Still here? Good. Let's move on.
So, what do I need a team for? Well, a group of friends and I, who have experience with running CW:HL2RP servers, are wanting to make a custom schema. So far I'm the only Lua scripter, with everyone else working on story or gameplay ideas or who will help manage the server later on. We also have a web developer, though he won't be able to help us as much because of some work he is doing IRL, and is the director of our community, Neutron Servers. Their is a total of 8 team members so far. A list of positions we need or may need in the future are as follows:

    • Lua Scripter (preferably with some knowledge of how Clockwork works, if you don't know much it's relatively easy to learn how it all works with some dissecting)
    • Map Creator (Nothing to advance needs to be known, just how to make brushes, a few prop_statics, and some lights look like a nice apartment and stuff like that. Most complicated stuff you'd need to know may relate to the vertex tool or how to setup special interactions like lights, but that pretty much it for now)
    • Graphic Artist/Poser (Not completely needed, but if you want to go ahead and say you wish to join below! It'd certainly help later into the project when we start advertising)

If you have a talent you'd like to contribute that isn't listed above, go ahead and say below and describe what you can do!

All positions will not be paid. Everything will be volunteer work, unless you consider joining a talented and fun community of people as payment.

Sounds interesting. Therefore, I am interested!
    Now let's see...

Lua scripter... Well I COULD modify a s l i g h t bit of code to get something different, even a small detail, but I'm not sure if that's helpful so I guess no..

Map Creator.. Well, I know how to use hammer and I am working on 2 maps (kinda) on my free time, so.. maybe. Idk.

Grpahic Artist / Poser.. Poser, assuming we talking about sfm and maybe blender, no. Now Graphic Artist, I know a bit of photoshop and I have created some posters for HL2RP communities to use in /advertadd in-game or on their forum.

What will the schema be about?

I was hoping someone would ask! We're trying to make the Schema Semi-Serious, with gameplay elements fused with the roleplay. A good way to think about it is if a D&D session was 3D and allowed you to move freely. There's still roleplay, but for things like combat and stuff there's a set of rules and tools to accomplish a task. Currently, the lore isn't particularly locked in, but we do have a sort of framework for it. Here it is:

The year is 2028. Global economic collapse and resource depletion is hurting nations across the world. Russia in particular took the worst beating. After waging war after war across Eastern Europe, Russia had spread itself to thin. It depleted it's resources at a slow but steady pace. Populations all across Russia rioted its actions that left many dead and many more starving or injured. Finally, in December of 2027, the Kremlin fell.

The Korbochev (Not final name) family had owned a lot of land by the southern border prior to the fall of Russia, and were rather wealthy. All of the family members had some position in local or national government. This is what allowed them to spread across three separate nations when there was no authority claiming the land. The family was by no means close, the two brothers despising each other almost as much as they despised their parents. The father, Oleg Korbochev, disliked his wife, and thought his sons were too unruly with their stupid rivalry. The mother, Anzhelina Korbochev, was loving for her sons, and was heartbroken when they decided to separate themselves from her life like their father. Everyone agreed to separate, not bothering each other ever again. Well, everyone but Domenic Korbochev. He hated his brother. Each of his family members formed their own nations in the crumbling Altai Republic in Russia, Oleg forming the Oligarchy of Oleg, Anzhelina establishing Anzia, a commonwealth, and finally Domenic's brother, Vedran Korbochev, creating the Altai Confederation. Domenic though had different plans. He began to make a private army, gathering followers through crazed and fanatical rhetoric aimed at those who wished to bring back the great power of the Kremlin. Domenic had connections with high ranking military officials, allowing him to rally military fanatics that would do anything to restore Russia's might. Domenic was able to convince them that they must start out small, and so they did.

In the beginning of July of 2028, Domenic's private army approached the capital of the Oligarchy of Oleg, Kosh-Agach. They easily overwhelmed the small paramilitary that was created only to deal with rioters and bandits. Domenic personally killed his own father and his council in-front of his private army and the remnants of the paramilitary, clearly showing his message. He was now in charge, and there was no one to fall back to. Domenic now established his own dictatorship and called it Krya, the name of a folk hero from a tale his father would tell him about who stood up against his superior and won.

He took hold of his new nation with an iron fist, and began to militarize everything. He'd deal with riots in the only way he could, with worse violence. His connections allowed him to import great technologies from the tech boom of the early 2020's, giving him access to mechs, exosuits, nano-medicine, genetic and physical augmentation, semi-sentient AI, and advanced weapon systems. His brother did similar work, knowing that he was in grave danger if Domenic had his way. This started the Altai Arms Race, scaring half the continent of what could happen if war erupted between the two.

The other half of the continent that wasn't scared of the Altai Arms Race were scared about one other thing. Nukes, and plenty of them. There were nukes all across the corpse of Russia, all people had to do was find them. Foreign arms dealers flocked to Russia, bringing huge search parties with them to uncover the radioactive treasures hidden in the Siberian ice. The US, one of the only nations not suffering from the global economic drought, saw that their stability was at stake. If a war started in Russia between two groups with recovered or jerry-rigged nukes, then it could cause chaos on a global scale. If the black market treasure hunters struck gold, then every terrorist and tyrant in the world could have a nuclear device to spread their message and support their campaign with. The CIA ordered all agents that were assigned to the now dissolved Kremlin to start establishing a shadow government and staging area in Eastern Europe, which was almost completely retaken by Russia before its collapse. After successfully establishing the shadow government, the CIA agents began to gather intel on all the new mini nations popping up, and found one to provide a perfect opportunity: Krya. They saw it as an unstable dictatorship, with likely the most resources at their disposal out of all the other countries in what is now being called Dead Russia. The agents decided to plant agents into the government as they wait for the first wave of NATO reinforcements to arrive at the staging area for a much larger operation, an operation planned to deactivate the threat that this once powerful nation provided the US once and for all.

    Map for reference:

The capital of the Altai Confederation would be Gorno-Altaysk, and the capital of Anzia would be Ust-Koksa.

    I like it!
Could you explain how the gameplay would roll out and what the players would do most of the time?

Alright, fair enough. Everything I say here though is subject to change, but it'll give a general idea what this will be about. So there will be around four base factions that players will be able to make a character for right off the bat. They can be a normal civilian, a Kryan Government worker, a member of the Kryan Guard (The dictators private military), and an initially small rebel faction call the New Russia Movement. Player all start at the lowest positions of these factions, and have no access to any significant resources. Civilians are free to do pretty much anything, like create businesses, form families, ect. as long as it follows the law. The government workers will be able to do things like paper pushing and working at the national bank (both of which could have minigames to measure performance and efficiency in these tasks) to rise up in the ranks. They could also specialize in certain departments and rise up in those. Soldiers can rise up in the military through training and other minigames that help measure performance in several tasks, not just shooting. All promotions in any faction will be up to players, but the minigames serve not just for extra fun but as a way to see how well a character ACTUALLY would perform in the task, not just how many /me's someone can makeup. Characters' stats would effect the outcomes of the tasks also, so it doesn't solely rely on a players actual IRL skill.
In terms of the entire server, the actions of the player base would effect the direction of the server as a whole. We would set up the initial government to be rather unstable, so the player base can decide where they want to take the universe. Admins would help monitor the direction of the server to make sure the story would never become uneventful or stale. There would be a variety of NPCs to initiate dialog with that would provide admins feedback of what certain portions of the player base have in store, allowing admins to stage events properly without the need to spoil anything. Polls would probably also take place to ask the player base directly what they would like to see also, helping to guide the experience.

What are you guys working on rn?

Currently, things have been in a sort of standstill. That's mainly why I made this post, so we can kick development back up. I've been working on implementing the factions into the schema, and I have some plans for a 'backgrounds' system that would add to character creation, allowing you to select a background that sets the spawn to that backgrounds spawn and gives you some unique benefits depending on the background. This is a mainly conceptual stage, though I'm starting work on systems that could be applied to a wider range of possible schemas. If you'd like to see more we have a Discord where most of our work is.

For anyone interested, head to this https://discord.gg/jrZAfXj and talk with our project members. They'll have the BrainSoup role. I'll be on a bit, though I'll be on my phone at a Christmas party so don't expect my meaty paragraphs like those above :p

  10. IMO both the Altai nations should either fuse together / become permanent allies or one of them should change what they call themselves because if I recall correctly - it's not totally allowed to fly a banner under the same names with different forms of goverment IRL.

If you are talking about the Altai Republic and Altai Krai in the map pic, those are actual federal subjects (I think they're like the Russian version of states but more stand alone-ish) of Russia currently. That is an actual map of the area where the majority of the roleplay would commence, with Kosh-Agach probably being the city of the server. If you're referring to the Altai Confederation and the Altai Republic, pretty much the Altai Republic would be dissolved, breaking into the three other nations formed by the Korbochev family.

I'm guessing Korbachev is the same equivalent of Russia's former politician Gorbachev?

Any date on when this is being released?, seems like a different server from the others.

Currently don't have any sort of release date. It's rather experimental at this stage, and currently I'm the only Lua scripter on the team. If we get more members on the team, we could have this ready for some sort of alpha in a few months. That's of course getting it to a point where it functions well enough and looks good enough so that roleplayers can test everything out without having to have a developer on the server 24/7. This project will certainly take a while though if we don't get new members, as we are starting from scratch with a custom schema, and I don't plan on directly ripping from other schemas.
