HL2RP What do you like AND dislike the most about HL2RP?

there's always that one guy with the obnoxious asian name who just HAS to make asian characters on every server but they JUST HAVE to be JAPANESE because it appeals to his animes

 

Then you play on some very shitty hl2rp servers. I see the Japanese but not nearly as often as the ruskis.

I think it can be agreed that shitty hl2rp servers attract shitty hl2rp characters.

 

i got a nice blank slate character

john morgan. a pale man from the bronx who reeks of cheap whiskey and stale tobacco. simple desc. simple backstory. slung some dope in his glory days. cracked a coupla skulls in bar fights. nihilistic and hedonistic outlook on life. hates cops and loves punk.

backstories don't have to be a 15 paragraph mla-format harangue about your character's time in the green berets.

 

My favorite is the faggots who play those half-jap female lesbians who were fucking Special Forces lol

What I like and dislike most about it is the people. I've met most, if not all of my current 6+ year friends off of this gamemode, and I've met some astounding people. I've also met some real pieces of shit. This gamemode has an extremely toxic community: And this is coming from an EvE Online player, which if you know anything about EvE, is renowned for being toxic as all hell.

But the gamemode also attracts some great people, too. Good roleplay brings people together.

 

Some guy played on my server for the longest time as a Russian, cringiest slavaboo shit I swear. I wish I had some screenshots.

 

I dislike bad minges. But I like alot of players.

 

i know you're really not supposed to, but i just rp as myself honestly, granted i'm usually a female character, it's worked out well and i think it results in the most realistic reactions and results instead of forcing a character that's going to be natrually extremely black-and-white like "not scared of anything at all" to "has absolutely no emotions" etc

 

I never see any unhealthy or ugly/uncool disfigured people.

 

fucking this. the only intentional flaws i see in characters are like, 'ooh i'm bipolar/schizo/adhd/any other bullshit excuse to natirally be edgy' or they have a scar on their right eye, etc. i'd love to see characters have more illnesses or life changing injuries that would also affect their relation to other people in a way

Playing a character with health restrictions/limitations can actually present a decent challenge for roleplay (for the better). I personally remember playing a character with a fucked up right leg which could still manage to walk with the assistance of a crutch. It made for good conversations IC as a shopkeeper of the Souvenirs shop on i17. On the opposite end of that argument, there's also a lot of servers that won't even allow you to try something of that sort without deeming you 'mentally unfit' or 'physically unfit' and sending you off to the furnace like some concentration camp.

 

inhad an idea about a character developing something serious and having other confront them about it, regarding their behaviour and symptons. it'd only work on a private/episodic rp, but idk, i feel like it'd be cool

 

i think its because most servers use the excuse that you HAVE to be healthy or otherwise the uu killed you off or some shit
oh and you cant be above 40 because muh old people
