HL2RP What do you look for in a HL2RP server?

Hello everyone.

HL2RP is embedded deep in the roots of Clockwork and it's previous installations such as OpenAura and is a faded icon of the Garry's Mod roleplay world. People love their favorite server for many reasons, but wouldn't it be great if there was a server that catered to everybody to a certain degree? Perhaps there are people out there willing to take on this challenge and this poses the question; what do you look for in a HL2RP server?

 

Let people have fun, stop the "sooper srs dark oppresion depression oh my god".

It's literally a fucking game, if I want to open up a laundrymat then let me do it eh?

 

I used to look for servers where everyone got their fair chance at RP.

No one gets special abilities, "pink hair", "special overwatch assassin unit" or "overwatch soldier that left and became a rebel"

A new player gets the same chances to roleplay as a veteran of the server.

 

A fair balanced, experience that's free of admin bias and implausible tech just because "HL2 lore is vague"

That's the worst excuse possible, I think you can get a pretty good idea based off of in-game shit.

If he is asking us what the ideal HL2RP server would be, why is it wrong for him to use that information he gathers? After all, the perfect HL2RP server would only benefit us.

So what's wrong with a little marketing? Most servers claim to be the best. Him asking for advice is not a reason to act this way towards him.

admins who don't crawl up your ass and interrogate you if you somehow got your hands on a weapon.

 

A server that provides a focus on civilian rp, gives no admins special rebel characters and have the players drive the server's rebellion/story instead.
Trust me guys, it's possible to do all this and make the server GOOD. I've done it before.

 

One that doesn't have edgy teenager slang for CP names.

You see, you don't have to provide help or suggestions to the server, personally, as the support forum for the CW gamemode we should be very experienced with server development and we should share that knowledge with everyone.

True, if it weren't veiled it would be a little more polite, but it's not like they're squeezing money out of you- oh wait.

OT: A server that can manage a black market/economy that isn't a cookie cutter of SCG or your run of the mill admin-rebels

 

@invadingaliens I'm the original poster and I don't see what the issue posting that on my own thread was. Yes it was sarcastic but I had dropped subtle hints in the original post to suggest that I was making my own community; in addition, I don't see what the issue with me saying THAT regardless - surely everyone wants to be a part of a community that is reflective of its members wishes?
@Zink I'm guessing you'd much rather be a part of a community that does what the administration wants and doesn't take suggestions openly and freely? This was no guerrilla marketing tactic in order to get C16 approval stamped on it; I'm merely taking suggestions to make sure I'm offering something fresh that people will want to play.

I'd look for certain friends. They all sort of stuck together so I knew if I found one I'd find others.

 

yeah becausei m sure complaining on a dead forum will help
