HL2RP What would be your ideal HL2RP Server?

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by Humblebumbled, Feb 1, 2016.

  1. I'd honestly like a Server where the Combine act like they do in Half Life 2; corrupt assholes that beat citizens for no reason, and force citizens to do stupid shit (Pick up that can) For their amusement. CP's wouldn't be punished for giving the wrong punishment to citizens, and there wouldn't be a damn High Command system. Once you get the CP whitelist, you're a CP. You're expected to know what to do, and you'll be given what every other unit is given.

Citizens actually fear the combine enough to not rebel, (Like in HL2) And simply cope with the abuse, leading to more Character Development and less "I want to be a webul."

OTA just don't show up. Ever. In Cities, the OTA basically didn't do shit until the City was in 100% disrepair, and didn't get deployed the moment a rebel shot a CP.

It's disgusting when the Civil Protection walk out of the nexus, afraid to do anything because "M-M-MUH EMOTIONS I AM HUMAN ON THE INSIDE!!!", also yeah, ranks are really retarded. So are divisions.

You don't need divisions for healing or repairs when the Combine have automated systems set up throughout the city just for that, I don't like it when servers make it like the Combine need to have mechanics and field medics on the street walking around cuse "muh rp"

why aren't units cross trained is my question
like lets say you have a group of 1 medical, 1 grid, and one union
you are a grid, lets say union gets shot, and medical does as well
nobody is cross trained to treat a gunshot wound, so they end up both dying
also why the fuck do cps use zipties
like the combine can't afford metal ones
and a rebel or a citizen who is strong enough can break through so yeah

    why even train

like i hate it when servers go "ok now that you're cp u gotta listen to all this shit and stuff while i flaunt my EpU or DvL or w/e and you aren't even going to use anything i teach you but you're gonna sit through three hours of breaching anyway cus fuck you". if i ever made a server i'd just make it so civie walks up to a kiosk thing, gets given a suit and stuff in a bag, and told to get changed, then wait for dispatch or w/e

if you don't train your units, then your units are going to die
the most important stuff isn't the breaching, its the knowledge of knowing what to do when you are in a situation rather than running around and shooting

  6. I'd rather have a rock-hard application, so I know my Units are already trained before getting their whitelists.

  7. I believe it's best they learn from experience though. At the starting stage, the most dangerous thing they're gonna deal with is a guy with a pipe. As they're immersed into the job, they can potentially become tougher. You don't give a guy a gun unless you're certain he won't fuck around with it (in a dangerous way, to the Combine, at least)

It's only when people focus on who has the largest gun and the rebels are armed way better than protection units that they'd really need to be trained on tactical shit

what if a major attack happens i.e rebels with better gear
if you didn't have any trained units prior you'd be stomped
but you'd probably have already trained units
anyway my other pet peeve is that cps use zipties still

  9. well there goes what I'd like to see changed
rebels that blend in with the population and rarely draw attention to themselves, assist civilians, and don't make the city a war zone every day

on top of that, no sort of BMD system

  10. tbh I think a majority of hl2rp has never played hl2

  11. Admins who dont attempt to block off the slums to keep all citizens ,except the admins themself, in the plaza.

  12. The slums shouldn't be blocked off but harder to access, look at Gordon Freeman for example. He had to go through various apartments, rooftops including active train plots just to reach the "slums" which wasn't even fully the canals at that point.

I don't like the fact that maps like City 45 and Industrial 17 literally have fences or doors that you can open that unlock you to the slums/sewers/canals - The slums should be a place hard to find and quite the chore to get into, as realistically there's nothing good there for a citizen besides a place to chill away from the Combine; Slums(as shown in hl2) are usually riddled with toxic waste, breaking shacks, broken technology and headcrabs, I'd also like to imagine some sort of fungi or disease has to be breeding there.

  13. how about no slums period

giving resistance-aligned players their little area no one can fuck with doesn't encourage caution with their actions

  14. A HL2RP map that makes a rundown-type city or area similar to Beyond The Catacombs, where it's dirty, bacteria riddled and rampant with trash.

Or just anything from Beyond The Catacombs is good for me.

I think i fucked up the name, did I get it right @Omega

Going along with what I said about BMD, removing currencies would be nice.

  16. I remember hearing this system called 'Ration Tickets' on a server before, I forgot how it worked exactly but you start out with like 3 ration tickets and receive 2 at the end of the week(in-game time i guess).

    Example:

Little Timmy: I only have 2 tickets! But, I'd love to put them towards this nice fit beanie however...I also need to use these 2 for a ration, Fuck. Do I starve to death or die from hypothermia?

  17. I think the Combine shouldn't distribute these tickets openly, instead giving them away as rewards for actions they consider to be significant. It could be worth a lot of stuff, maybe, idk. Generally, people would have to trade stuff they find/food gained from rations. Not sure what to say about businesses though, or government distributors

  18. I'm always iffy about businesses because, wouldn't the Combine want to collect the profit made from these CWU shops just cause they can(I doubt they need it).

Perhaps, It's just another ruse by the Combine to keep the populous occupied

  19. Removing currencies would be great if you could manage an economy of sorts without them.
