HL2RP Whitelist server. Thoughts and opinions.

Quick thread. Just wanting to know what you folks would think of a server you need to APPLY to come on first. Yay or nay?

I've seen people talk about this but never actually do anything with it.

It worked great for sd, but having a whitelisted server also requires you to have a pool of people who /want/ to apply. Nobody will apply if theres no hype surrounding it, or if you don't already have a playerbase.

 

Don't make the application stupidly long, and have it be relatively simple. I'm all for a new server, but i'm not going to write a full four page essay for a server that is going to be a hit or miss.

 

As long as the idea appeals, whitelisted servers will work.

 

Yeah, uh.. A problem typical with those servers is when people apply for something they generally expect some sort of.. Compensation? They usually try to overstep the boundaries of a normal character because 'I applied'.

 

whitelisted servers are great for maintaining quality, though try to not make it overcompensated if that's how youre supposed to word it, just to make sure that the applicant possesses decent skills in RP, and like what lieutenant dan said, dont easily give them 'SPEC OP XDDDD AUTH' unless they actually write good things about it

and dont make the server hl2rp please

 

I don't understand why cider doesn't get much love.

 

Can work, just needs to be done correctly.
