BLACK MESA ROLEPLAY
To my esteemed colleague,
I would like to both thank and congratulate you for having accepted a career with the Black Mesa Corporation.
As you may already know, we are one of the leading science-based research companies in the world.
You are expected to be at the Black Mesa Research Facility in New York by 8:00 AM on the date mentioned during the interview, the address of which is shown on the pamphlet received during the interview. At the reception desk, after having explained your predicament to the officer on duty and identified yourself, you will collect an identification card which will represent your employment at Black Mesa. After, you will meet with your division lead, or if one is not available, a senior member of your division, who will then show you around our beautifully furnished facility. If one is not available, a member of our security personnel will guide such a tour. After the tour, you are expected to begin work immediately, being granted the tools of the profession you applied for.
Note that replacement cards can be purchased from the quartermaster for 7$ USD.
As you may already know, your annual salary will depend based on your position and rank, shown in the pay chart attached. Medical benefits will commence after 30 days of employment.
In addition, you will be requested to take a medical examination and a drug test every 6 months of employment, as explained during the interview.
Please note that defying the confidentiality waiver will result in immediate termination and a lawsuit.
Yours,
Dr. Jakob Burchard
New York Branch Director

The server is set in the city of New York, in 1998. More precisely, in an underground facility owned by the Black Mesa Corporation. This New York Branch, although smaller, contains many secrets, of which some say are bigger then the corporation itself. Although it is much less staffed, the New York Branch includes many of the benefits the main HQ does, such as employee housing, and a large break room. The schema used was developed by Blt950, along with some touch-ups by myself on things like glitchy models and gramatic errors.
The map we use is rp_scp_urban_v2. Not only does this map have substansial space underground of which we are grateful for, it contains many empty buildings which we are able to furnish to our liking. It also holds many containment cells, originally for SCPs, now used to contain Xen specimens for both study and containment. This map was created by
@Corbulogistics . Furthermore, this map does not require Black Mesa: Source content, which not too many people seem to have, so it is more convenient in general.
We have many different factions on our server, each with their own unique and individual traits.
The following factions do not require a whitelist, and you are able to join them as soon as you join.
Scientist - The ones who are well-learned in the many fields of science, be it biology, chemistry, physics, or virtually any other.
Security - The ones who keep the staff safe, and keep intruders out. They're the ones you see patrolling the site.
Medic - The faction that will help you with that cut. Maybe you've got a cold? They can diagnose it and give you appropriate medication.
Chef - A bit hungry, and the food from the vending machines just won't do? Why not have some pasta, made as if it was from home?
Maintenance - A light's flickering? They'll get out a ladder and replace it with a new bulb.
These factions do require whitelists, which you can apply for on our forums, linked below. Note that there are no IC applications because IC Xen applications do not work well. (at all)
Xen Creature - Gerr, galing, gerr a'la gam! You can choose to either be a bullsquid, a vortigaunt, a headcrab, or even a houndeye!
Government Agent - Maybe you're just here to perform a tax audit, or were you actually sent by the CIA to steal files...
Visitor - Oh, there's a lab in town, and your kids seemed to like the science at your son's birthday party. Hm, let's see, how much to become a member...
Espionage Agent - Maybe you were sent by one of the many organized gangs, or maybe just a competing company. Either way, you know your goal: Learn all you can about Black Mesa, maybe even steal some files.
Disturbance Control Team - A Xen outbreak? Time to call in the DCT. Also known as the Disturbance Control Team, these marines are called in emergencies, and are given extensive training so they know what to do.
