World War Z?

Discussion in 'Discussion' started by Lt. Dan Taylor, Jul 23, 2016.

  1. World War Z was a book published in 2006 by Max Brooks, who in my opinion was a great author. He portrayed this whole different reality where the world was plagued by an infection that reanimated corpses. The book is written out in accounts of survivors from the conflict from all over the world and it starts with a doctor from China who is generally believed to have found Patient Zero, it goes on from there to describe a whole myriad of different and interesting stories, the Soldier at Yonkers (basically a big-ass battle that started the Great Panic when the American forces got absolutely routed), a Chinese nuclear bub Captain who gathers his crew and family, and slips away from dock, without a word. Definitely my favorite, the Indian Engineer that saves his country by destroying the last mountain-pass to the Indian governments northern 'Green Zone'. From the castles of Europe, the catacombs of Paris, and the walled in city of Jerusalem an insanely diverse world was created, with a lot of options to choose from.

Why do I think this world is perfect for an RP scenario? It isn't like all those other zombie-type servers, it isn't 'you are the last man on earth kill zombie get loot gogogo', the book never focused on one specific thing, be it survival stories, strife between nations still under zombie outbreak, the actual tid-bits of details you get about the actual zombies, and the Soldiers who then take back their countries. It doesn't even have to be that either, you can literally RP as a community in the east formed under the Redeker plan (Hard to explain) and you have to survive in a community under constant siege from the hordes of undead that were left to you when the US military retreated west.

  2. Isn't that the book where Russia becomes an Orthodox theocracy lol?

  3. it wouldn't work out.

script-hoarding players, and edgy roleplayors will ruin the experience completely

  4. maybe ;v (yes)

well there is obviously ways to work around that, it doesn't have to be public anyway, but I can definitely see where you are coming from, RPers not really putting themselves in the RP and just thinking about themselves, but I can see if there were real consequences and dangers in the RP that a good amount of those disconnected players might bother to idk, play someone that isn't 'oooh, gimmie' and 'hey baby wanna erp ;3'
