HL2RP Would it be a bad idea to give everyone buddha mode on HL2 RP?

If you don't know what buddha mode is, it makes it so a player not die, but still take damage.
It would obviously prevent RDM, and if paired with a damage log plugin that includes what hitbox(es) are hit when somone is attacked, players can't get away with not roleplaying their injuries, along with not being able to get away with damaging people without roleplaying.

@Reagent they'd have to also be dedicated, but admins also want to rolepaly

    they dont.
they're on duty, 24/7. if someone RPs with them then they need to understand that admins can and will take time for players

I think it's a bad idea to give everyone godmode. People can jump from high ledges, prop climb anywhere, avoid traps and all kind of stuff.
Sure it registers damage, but do you really want to be that owner/admin that has to nazi his way through the server logs 24/7 to find people avoiding the rules?

@CPT. Maxii I find it hard to imagine someone climbing around the map a lot after they mess up once or twice, you can't see shit when you're damaged, you're also very slow and can't actually jump if your legs are damaged.

Somewhat of a fair point, I don't completely agree but I certainly see where you are coming from. Still you avoided the last part of my argument, what I was trying to say is, keeping everyone on track and making sure the rules are followed will force you to devote time to checking logs, console and such and interfering with players roleplay to remind them of this rather unique ruleset. Also how will PKs and deaths work since people obviously won't be shot and die? They have to make the decision themselves, or an admin will have to do it. Both will have negative consequences.

@CPT. Maxii When someone dies, they should be able to type an action describing their death. Which becomes complicated when the situation is a shootout, even when people aren't shooting to kill they can still get headshots. As for admins "nazing" around, it shouldn't be a problem on a server with people who know how to roleplay and are aware of the server rules. The point of having buddha mode on for everyone is to prevent minges from RDMing, which can be done with a competent and dedicated admin team (if you can form one), but with damage logs, it would also force people to always roleplay their injuries. The only downside to this in my opinion is that many new players are gonna get warned, but chances are that would happen anyways since they're new players.

Very well. If you plan to implent this on any server, I think many of us would be very interested in the results of your experiment with this buddha mode.

  13. I think it would work, given that the server is S2RP and constantly facilitated so that no one can go 'fuck it' and ignore a situation in which their character's life is at risk, it would be nice to enjoy a server like that for a change.

Though if you're worried about players minging around and punchwhoring then I'd just disable punch damage and make sure that you don't hand out guns like candy.

  14. It is frighteningly easy to glitch into the Nexus on just about any map. PSA: Please make your MPF vendors locked to anyone that isn't a unit.

also having your admin team try and glitch into the nexus and then blocking off areas that are glitchable helps.
but yeah, if you dont lock your vendors you kinda deserve to get your shit broken in to. it's literally clicking 2 buttons.

  16. Allow me to summarise this.

Buddha mode has pros and cons
    The pros:
    Can prevent majority of rdm
    Prevents S2Ks and sudden minges
    The cons:
Can be glitched to still kill a player
No way to decide who wins in a fight
Can jump off a roof and get up like lol
Is impossible to decide if someone is rule breaking
    Makes minges immune to s2k
