Hi, I'm Tommy - the founder and concurrent Director of Xerothermic Gaming. We've had our ups and downs in the past, and we are recently setting a server back up. We'll be trying a different approach at Half-Life 2 Roleplay from what we normally do. It'll be based around being in a more run-down portion of City Twenty-Four, where citizens are given rations rarely and units are much more brutal than the inner city.
Xerothermic Gaming as a whole has two servers up and running, and we plan on putting up a Jailbreak fairly soon. Aside from our HL2RP, we have a Deathrun, but my personal main focus will be on the HL2RP. Deathrun and Jailbreak run themselves, and is only up because of our players from past iterations of the community requested them.
Also, in regards to donation perks - you will not receive anything in-game, as IC perks are not a route I plan on going down again. You will be given a donator tag on our Forum and Teamspeak 3 server indefinitely alongside a Teamspeak channel. As well, if you wish to join the other servers, you will of course be given the perks relative to the amount you donated (Perks located
here. )

Spoiler: A quick rundown
Portal storms raged across the Earth during the early 21st century, bringing new forms of alien life to the world which enforced evacuations across entire nations to centralize the citizens into a well more fortified city. Quickly following, a more military-esque race called the Combine used these storms as an entrance to Earth, making quick work of the planet - gaining almost totalitarian control in just seven hours due to the planet's surrender. Fast-forward about four years after the takeover, the Combine are at their strongest during their occupation as citizens struggle against such a force in cities controlled by the totalitarian Union.
However, there is a city sector where things are carried out differently than the others. In the outskirts of City 24, there is a area known by citizens as the 'Ghetto', which was disrupted during the war and heavily damaged. The Ghetto was still taken under control by the Combine, rumoured around many other cities as an area which is dangerous, scary, and difficult. It's said that many that have been designated to this sector has quickly died from either malnourishment or murder, by both units and fellow citizens who are looking for a meal. Rations are much more scarce than in other sectors, and due to this some of its inhabitants have followed down the path of cannibalism. The Metropolice Force are brutal, giving the citizens terrible housing units made out of any sort of scrap they can find with still the possibility of a small patrol of units knocking it down as a entertainment for themselves. Citizens try to work together to uplift the horrible quality of life, but even resistance is squashed within it's first days of development.
You are a citizen who is currently on a train to be transferred to the outskirts of City 24 - you don't know what to expect besides the rumours others say. When you step off the train, you'll never be able to climb back on. You'll be very rarely given rations, which are of horrible quality. Every other citizen you meet will be judging you, trying to see if they can take you in a fight to take things you have - be it clothes, food, anything. The Metropolice, while rarer in sight than other cities, will strike you down without a bat of an eye - a bullet through your skull if you just so much as look at them funny. It won't be easy to survive, but that's just the way life is here.
Welcome to City Twenty-Four.
Roleplay will be focused almost completely on citizens. There will be no ranks in the Metropolice Force, only digits so that you may be identified. Units will be led by dispatch.
Rarely will you see units around - there will generally only ever be two or three units on at a time, if any at all. The antagonist of our roleplay won't be units - it will be fellow citizens. There will be fight for supplies, be it food or shelter. It will be up to the players if they decide to make a citizen who tries to work together and get equal supplies to everyone, or a citizen who does their best to gather as many supplies as they can for themself.
We have taken out CWU, vortigaunts, city administration, and other various factions commonly seen on Half-Life 2 Roleplay servers; we are sticking with only citizens and MPF. Your greatest friend in the outskirts of City Twenty-Four is the ration terminal, which will give you a low quality ration every half-day. Be cautious, though - if you are seen walking around with your ration, there will probably be someone trying to take it from you.
