What is S.T.A.L.K.E.R.?
S.T.A.L.K.E.R., or Stalker, is a roleplaying video game set in The Zone, otherwise known as The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone or Zone of Alienation. In the 1980?s, the Chernobyl NPP exploded, causing radioactive fallout to pepper the surrounding area and converted the city and outlying Pripyat into 30 kilometer? nuclear wasteland. This is where our reality and the reality of Stalker branch off. Instead of remaining simply the worst nuclear disaster in history before the Fukushima Daiichi incident, The Zone produces mutants, anomalies, and most importantly, the mystique and aura of wonder that is the modern Zone. Men and women enter the zone each day hoping for adventure, wealth, or simply an escape from the modern world. These people are known as Stalkers. They arm and armor themselves with whatever they can afford and brave the Zone and it?s terrors for whatever reasons they choose.
But not all of the dangers of the Zone are related to quasi-natural anomalies or hideous mutants. Life in the zone is hard on everyone . The rain and cold are your worst enemies. Many stalkers die from having wet socks rather than being eaten by a Chimera or being riddled with bullets from the likes of Bandits. Of course, there are forces of ?order? in this cursed place. Duty seeks to control and contain the zone?s many blasphemies of science and those like Freedom seek to make sure the zone is free and able to expand. These factions have an uneasy ceasefire. After all, the Zone will eventually take them all. You see, the Zone is expanding. Whether anyone likes it or not, the place is growing. Mutants charge the borders of military checkpoints more frequently, and each Emission or ?Blowout? carries the possibility to be like The Big One that occurred on June 10, 2006. This was the first ever Emission and expanded the zone by 5 Km? at the cost of the lives of soldiers and scientists who were instantly obliterated. It would be wise to take heed and find adequate shelter when the warning of a possible Blowout occurrence. The many Zombified Stalkers of Yantar should be evidence enough that one would not want to be caught in the middle of one. Some have survived Blowouts with the aid of special drugs, but these pills are expensive and may not always work. Besides, the Survivors never come back the same as they were before their fated events...

All applications are IC and on the forum, except for mutants - which is only on the forum.
**You may only be part of one major faction (Freedom, Duty, UKM) at a time due to metagame situations.
General rule of thumb: IC is IC. As long as it is humanly possible, it will most likely be allowed on the server.
